Seven New River Tours Opens in Saigon

Saigon launched new river tours, seven high-speed boats which can carry 20 passengers each and can run at a maximum speed of 50 kph. The powerful canoes will bring tourists from Tan Cang to Cu Chi, Binh Duong, Can Gio and District 9 with fresh features that will definitely attract more visitors.

One new feature is in its Tan Cang – Cu Chi route which will now stop at Binh Duong to take its passengers on a tour around a famous orchard and ancient house.

The Can Gio route used to make a stop at the Dan Xay ecotourism area, but will now divert to Can Thanh, the capital of the outlying district where tourists can enjoy experiencing local market life firsthand.

Ho Chi Minh City has been making serious efforts to revitalize its river tourism since the Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 was permanently closed which also shut down a number of routes in the area, but to no avail. With the introduction of such a new river tour feature, the city has been experiencing a 16% increase in visitor arrival this year compared to 2016, or a total of 4.2 million foreign passengers from January to September of 2017.

A boat tour costs around VND750,000 (US$33) to VND2.14 million (US$94) for adults and about VND560,000 (US$25) to VND1.61 million (US$70) per child.
