The red-shanked douc langur is listed in the Vietnam Red Book and in the International Union for Conservation of Nature as “a critically endangered species with unlimited protection.” It is a breathtaking creature with five colours and unique overall features. It lives in groups or in a family. They reside in trees and eat different kinds of fruits and plants such as figs and banyan leaves.

To date, there are only 530 red-shanked douc langurs in the Son Tra Nature Reserve along with 287 species of animals, 106 species of birds, and 15 rare wild animals. The facility has a rich bio-diversity which makes it an ideal sanctuary for such delicate creatures.

The red-shanked douc langur has been nicknamed the “Queen of the Primates” by the International Wildlife Protection Organization because of its unquestionable beauty.
