Hue Festival is one of the most anticipated celebrations in Vietnam that is observed every two years. As early as now, preparations are already under way for its 10th anniversary which will happen between April 27 and May 2 of 2018.
Details of the festivity have not been fully laid out, but the government and organizers will make sure that it will be grand and exciting, something which the visitors, especially the first-timers, will never forget. Among the initial activities planned are a street carnival, an international food festival and a hot air balloon show.
Traditional performances such as court music and dragon boat racing will be conducted as always in respect to Hue’s history being a royal city. When the Nguyen Dynasty reigned from 1802 – 1945, Hue was its capital, making it a significant element of Vietnam’s history.
In preparation for the big event as well, the Imperial Citadel has been opened to the public from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. since April until September. The cultural complex is one of the most important relics of the country and among the favorite destinations of tourists all over the world.
Hue, or Thue Thien – Hue Province in general, holds precious memories of Vietnam’s past which may be why it has been receiving an increasing number of visitors through time. From January to March 2017 alone, it has welcomed over 790,000 tourists from across the globe. This is equivalent to a 2.7% rise in the same period in 2016. 313,000 of the figure are international arrivals, or a 13% increase.
The Hue Festival in 2018 will definitely bring in more visitors from all over the world to witness this special affair.
