Vinasun is a very familiar name in Vietnam when it comes to Taxi Service. Though dominating certain part of the country’s taxi industry for a long time, the recent invasion on their market by taxi booking apps from other Taxi Services is eating up a huge chunk of their sales.
To keep up with the competition, Vinasun Corp has introduced an app, which can be installed in a wide variety of platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows-based devices, and even in non-smartphones. Seen to compete with the existing taxi apps of Uber, GrabTaxi and EasyTaxi, the Vinasun app lets one book the closest taxi from his location, have on overview of the planned route, estimated fare, cab’s number, cabbie’s number, name and even including photos. An option to rate the service after the trip is also available.
Vinasun accepts payment via several platforms including Visa, Master, ATM, Vinasun cards, coupon and cash.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vinasun dominate the Taxi Service market with a 44 percent market share. Here they will have the app made available by September while announcing to later launch the app in additional cities like Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ba Ria Vung Tau.
Vinasun, however, is not alone in the competition. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology has also introduced the taxi app called LiveTaxi. A rise of other local services is also expected in the coming years. Since 2009, Vinasun’s annual average growth in revenue has always stayed above US$20 million. In 2014, it made over US$150 million in revenue. They are hoping the new app will not only keep its profits robust, but even see better numbers this year and onwards.
