Visit Tra Su Cajuput Forest in Van Giao Commune, Tinh Bien District, An Giang Province and experience a different kind of Vietnam with a boat ride exploration of nature.
Tra Su Cajuput Forest is a national reserve area composed of 1,500 hectares of land. It is home to 140 species of plants and 120 species of water birds, bats, reptiles, animals and fish. Most of these flora and fauna are rare, while a few are even listed in the Red Book.
From July to December, the forest is covered with water and tourists can take a 30-minute boat ride to admire the unique beauty of the place during this time. The greenery is thick, with lotus and water lilies decorating the water. Different kinds of birds like storks can be seen perched on trees. Guests will also be taken to a bird-watching tower where there is a telescope to be able to see more birds and appreciate the whole landscape even better.
If you’re not a fan of the wet weather, you can go between December and January when the sun is out and the wind is cool. Duckweeds can be seen covering the water like a painting and more birds flock to the area to build their nests.
Tra Su Cajuput Forest is fast becoming a popular tourist destination in Vietnam. Many travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City and in the Mekong Delta area offer organized tours to the national reserve as well as to other famous attractions such as Cam Mountain and Tuc Dup Hill.
