Hoi An has just been recognized as “one of the most interesting places in the world to experience life at night” by the UK magazine Rough Rides.
Hoi An is an ancient Vietnamese town in the central province of Quang Nam and known as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Hoi An Town is considered a successful trading port from the 15th to the 19thcentury. That is, it was able to preserve traditional Vietnamese features including historical relics as pagodas and temples, among others.
One of the most anticipated times in Hoi An is during the 14th day of the lunar calendar, a monthly event in which street lights all over the town are switched off and multi-colored lanterns are hanged to take their place. The Thu Bon River comes alive with flower garlands and colored lanterns wherein visitors can walk on the cobbled streets along the river to witness and marvel at this festive affair.
In 2013, Hoi An also earned another recognition as second Best City for tourists in Asia by Conde Nast Traveller, a well-renowned travel magazine. Rough Rides magazine also rated Hoi An’s full moon festival as 15th of the 20 Unforgettable Things To Do At Night, a clear proof that Hoi An has a world-class nightlife that tourists should see and experience for themselves.
