The National Traditional Boat Boating Tournament will be held on May 5-12, 2014 at the Con Son Lake, Con Son-Kiep Bac Tourism Site, Chi Linh Commune, Hai Duong Province. It will be participated in by 500 athletes from 14 delegations. There will be 18 events both for men and women who will compete in three distances of 200, 500 and 1,000 meters.
This is the second time for such a tournament to be conducted. The first ever boating tournament was held in Ha Tien, Kien Giang Province as part of the National Sports Games.
Quang Tri is the largest delegation to ever join in the competition. It is made up of 70 athletes and is considered one of the crowd favorites and bet to win the tournament. The Can Tho contingent is the second largest with 55 athletes while Hai Duong and Kien Giang both have 50 athletes each.
The results of the contest will be counted in the seventh National Sports Games to be held on November, which will also be used as the basic yardstick for selecting athletes to become members of the national team which will compete in the Asian Beach Games later this year in Phuket, Thailand.
